Just for Fun
Admiral Holiday Skate
This year the Admiral Children's Holiday party in Halifax was held at the city's largest indoor skating rink; the Halifax Metro Centre. The festivities kicked off with a friendly hockey match whereby the Halifax offices two hockey teams squared off against each other whilst family and friends cheered them on. Round two involved over fifty employees along with their families enjoying a leisurely skate round the rink, with parents helping out children and some children helping out parents who were a bit rusty. Following the skate, the families gathered in the party area to enjoy a pizza party. The highlight, of course, shortly followed as Santa arrived, chatted one on one with the children and handed out presents before he had to fly back to the North Pole to finalize his plans for Christmas.
Hockey Night in Canada
The Admiral Hockey team hit the ice this year for their second season with over 25 players; up from 15 last year. The team acknowledges the financial support they have received from Admiral, including the Admiral Community Chest and especially the Halifax Sport and Social Committee, has been key to supporting the team and providing for a much longer season this year.
Admiral Halifax hosts 3rd Annual Company Picnic
Admiral held its third annual company picnic on a hot sunny day in August on the shores of MacDonald Beach and over 200 our Admiral Family members took in all the fun events of the day. With their bellies full of picnic fare courtesy of Tarek's Café the children enjoyed a bouncy castle, face painting a magic show and juggling before they lined up for potato sac, egg and spoon and three legged races. Their parents cheered from the sidelines and then the staff lined up to dunk their manager with all proceeds from the event being donated to the IWK Children's Hospital. The teams then had a chance to flex their muscles in the grand finale; the Sales versus Renewals tug of war competition. The competition was particularly fierce as this year was the tie breaker with each department having laid claim to the Admiral Cup once before. It was a close competition as the department's teams were evenly matched but after a show of strength the Sales Team gained some extra ground and were the victors of the day; proudly receiving the cup.
A Spooktacular Halloween
The Sport and Social Committee proudly presented a Haunted House to ring in Halloween 2011 in the Halifax office. The committee did a phenomenal job transforming the break room into a frightening spectacle with pathways made up of bloody sheets, spider webs and hanging heads where our staff fought off zombies, witches and psychos. Brave souls who survived were rewarded with treat bags. Next up was the costume contest where staff sporting a myriad of costumes which included a pirate, Thor, a gecko, a wicked queen and other ghoulish costumes paraded about. A special prize bucket was given to each of the winners!
Disco Inferno
The Halifax Renewals had a groovy time at their Renewals party in March. The party was organized by the Top Ten Committee as a reward for the Department achieving their highest contribution rate ever as a site. They celebrated the old fashioned way ...seventies style. There were costumes ranging from go- go girls to Austin Powers. There were tons of prizes to be won; gift cards for everything from best costume to best joke and best dance. Everyone worked really hard together to achieve the departments goal and the party was a blast!
