Movember
Moustache fever hit the Halifax office in November as the Rear Admirals launched their fourth Movember Campaign in support of Prostate Cancer Awareness and Research. This charitable cause is one where it seemed everyone was on board; there were mo sisters and mo brothers from one end of the office to the other, moustache grams and 50-50 draws, all in support of a very worthwhile cause. In the end, if you will pardon the pun, the team raised close to $2000.00 in the office through the generous support of our employees. Thanks again to everyone for their support.
Adsum House Tea
Ten Admiral ladies enjoyed a beautiful afternoon tea at the Prince George Hotel in support of Adsum House. They were treated to a fabulous lunch and fashion show featuring the latest designs from New York. The ladies enjoyed high tea with a sample of treats from some of the best bakeries in the city. The afternoon featured a cake raffle and some fun gifts and door prizes with three of the day’s winners being seated at the Admiral table. Anne won a specatcular cake and Jenn scooped up a fruit bouquest which she brought back to share with her team, while Dee won a beautiful floral centrepiece. It was a an enjoyable afternoon in support of a very worthwhile chairty. This was our third year attending the event in celebratuion of Spring and the great work being done by Adsum House in our community.
Golf Competition for Feed Nova Scotia
On July 8th eight staff who won the Admiral in office golf competition headed out to the Swinging for Supper tournament at Glen Arbour. Swinging for Supper is an event in support of one our staff’s chosen charities; Feed Nova Scotia. Laura, our Payroll Administrator described the event as fantastic! She said it was a beautiful day, the course was gorgeous, the dinner was delicious and the teams were a riot. While the Admiral team’s collective performance didn’t win them any honors, Laura did win a prize in the Women’s Longest Drive category and our teams walked away with some great door prizes as well. Everyone agreed it was an awesome day and they had a lot of fun in support of a very worthwhile charity. Feed Nova Scotia supports over 38,000 individuals with food security issues each month.
January’s Charity Champion
Lori our receptionist was January’s Charity Champion in the Halifax office for a charity near and dear to her heart; the IWK Children’s Hospital. Lori was our resident Change Bandit and with guns a blazing raised $165.00 which will be fund matched by the Admiral Community Chest making her donation $330.00 in total. The monies donated will be used to purchase much needed medical equipment to treat children under the age of 16. This is Lori’s second year as a change bandit for the IWK, which she says is her favorite charity. Lori had a lot of fun raising the money and said” There is something really rewarding about raising money in support of children and families. I really appreciate the support of everyone at Admiral and wanted to say thanks!
Paddling To Victory

Part of a canoe and kayaking team, Jennifer Meisner received funding from Admiral Community Chest to kit out the crew in matching jackets. In this article she tells about a national championship the team took part in.
I started paddling with the Mic Mac Masters Paddling Program in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in July 2009. The season runs from April until October which is basically whenever there isn’t ice on the lake! As part of the program, we race war canoes and kayaks with anything from one individual up to fifteen people per boat.
